I have never seen or heard of the Jennifer's Body, but I can relate to it because I have seen the iconic movie Mean Girls. I think that the storyline that Lola explained in her blog post was very intriguing. The idea of a typical high school mean girl is everything that Jennifer embodies, and the idea of a a high school mean girl is still relevant to many of us because we are not even a year out of high school. When reading Lola’s blog post I’m sure that every one of us had that particular girl come into our minds that reminds us slightly of Jennifer. The movie is such a relatable movie especially for our ages. I found it interesting that Lola talked about the benign violation theory because Jennifer seemed to not always have a filter on what she was saying. The benign violation theory is all about not coming off too offensive, but still taking a dig at someone, and with Jennifer's comment to Chip she definitely accomplished that. The extra aspect of Jennifer’s Body that diff...

I had not watched Superbad until this past summer, and my life is forever changed. The cringe factor is real, and it is something that everyone can relate to. All individuals want to be viewed as the “cool kids” in the eyes of the popular kids, and sometimes it just does not work out. For Seth and Evan they definitely struggled with being accepted the cool kids, but they made a hilarious effort in doing so. I have two favorite parts of the movie, and my two favorite parts coincide with the two scenes that Faith discussed. First, the scene where Fogell, a hilarious misfit, purchases a fact ID. Not only does he come up with the most absurd name, “McLovin”, he also says that he is twenty-five years old. Fogell could have easily he was twenty-one, but his explanation was somewhere along the times of, “how many twenty-one year olds do you think live in this town.” This scene leaves the audience bellowing out with laughter because of the complete incongruity, and the innocent thought proce...

Luckily I did not miss out during my childhood because I loved watch Tom and Jerry with my older brother. It was honestly one of the only times that my brother and I got along. Anyways, I always loved when Tom and Jerry was on because it was so different from what I was use to watching. I was a typical young girl and lived for watching the Disney channel, but I would stop everything to watch Tom and Jerry . I always found it intriguing that young kids could understand what was occurring throughout each short episode due to the fact there was no sound. I believe that the reason it was so captivating to all ages was because of the incongruity that happened during the show. There was never a time where Tom and Jerry were not scheming to take down the other. There was constant mischief between them, and it allowed for young children to find humor in the show despite the fact that there was no sound. I particularly like the scene that Tyler chose to focus on. I personally do not remember th...

The first time that someone asked me to go see the movie Deadpool I was apprehensive. Then I learned that Ryan Reynolds played the main character, Deadpool, and I was no longer as apprehensive. I’m all about action movies, but I would take a chick flick over action any day. Although I was apprehensive to see the movie at the beginning, once I got into the movie I could not stop laughing. It was nice to see a superhero movie integrate humor throughout the duration of the scenes. Usually there is only one specific scene that is funny in superhero movies, but Deadpool breaks that stereotype. I really enjoyed Katiemarie’s blog post over the different themes that run throughout the movie. I particularly liked how she discussed the incongruity in Deadpool . I thought the movie was well rounded with a good spread of incongruity throughout. The part of Deadpool that I really enjoy, that Katiemarie also discussed, was how Deadpool’s character uses the camera to connect with the viewers. He b...

I’ve never heard of the television show The Good Place before reading Abi’s blog post, but it seems interesting. It is definitely a different concept than a type of show that I would normally revert to watching but it seems funny. I find it interesting that the show is based off the good place meaning heaven but in reality the cast has been sent to the bad place meaning hell. The concept seems kind of terrifying because that is what some individuals are scared about, being sent to hell, and here is a television show poking fun at it. All of the senses mentioned in Abi’s post seemed funny to me, but the two in particular that I enjoyed were, the first scene involving Jason, and the second sense with Jane. I found the first scene particularly funny for two reasons. The first because Jason is begging for his life but in reality he is already dead. Although death is not a funny topic, the fact that Jason is so caught up in not dying when he already has remains funny. Along with the fact th...

I love how Nikoleta used vines for her lead blog post. Although I was not a vine expert at the time when vine was popular, nor am I now, I can still appreciate the classics. I love how the phenomenon of vine started when vine ultimately died. There are certain groups of individuals who can have entire conversations with only using vines, which leaves anyone who does not understand the vine culture in a state of confusion, but inherently becomes funny. Most vine experts of our generation would love to show any individual their favorite vine at any given moment. I also enjoyed reading the part of Nikoleta’s blog post where she described how successful some viners have become due to their short fame on the app. It remains incredible that so many individuals in today’s age used this small green app to launch their entire life, some without even knowing it. Although vine is undoubtedly hilarious so are the spin offs of vines. The success that Demetrius Harmon and Angelo Zeigler have had due...
