Response to Lead Blog #4
To be honest I had never heard of the movie “The Big Lebowski” before and ending up watching the trailer to receive more context behind the movie, and to my surprise really enjoying it. Usually I tend to stick to more romantic comedy movies, but I will definitely have to watch this entire movie sometimes. I really enjoyed Zach’s blog post on the movie and how I could feel his personality throughout the languages he used. I find it hilarious how the movie is based around a man who is confused with another man because I’m sure many people have had this instance happen to them. Or, at least could relate to the mix up of it. I really liked the point that Zach made about how in the movie they used the words “like” and “well” because it allowed viewers to make a personal connection to the movie. So many individuals use “like” and “well” as fillers when they are less educated, or simply trying to fill space so it makes the movie more relatable, and therefore funny. I can see by just watching the trailer, the incongruity factors during the duration on the movie. Due to the fact that they framed The Dude as the “Big” Lebowski for urinating on the rug. In reality with today’s society there would not be a mix up like that, but the incongruity adds to the humor of the movie. I also love the personal connection Zach mad when describing “dudeism.” The complete essence of dudeism I can totally see in some individuals. For example, when Zach described “dudeism” as doing whatever makes individuals happy or just simply enjoying life I think more people should live by that. Which also in itself is humorous because there is not a scientific name for “dudeism” it just is what it is and is understood by so many individuals.
